Setting Up Tax-Exempt Profiles
Overview
In order to setup tax-exempt customers, a tax-exempt profile must be in place. The profile is then assigned to the customer in the Customers screen.
Instructions
From the StockTrac® main menu, go into the Configuration module. Click Shop –> Customer Tax Profiles. The following screen will display:
Click the New button. The following screen will display:
Enter the following information:
Profile Name/Exempt Reason | Enter the classification of customers (i.e., Church or School). |
Description | This column will list the Sales Tax that has been defined (see Configuration à Shop à Sales Tax.) |
Parts Rate | This column shows the sales tax rate for parts. |
Exempt? | Click this box to have parts be exempt from sales tax for customers with this Tax Profile. |
Labor Rate | This is the sales tax rate for labor. |
Exempt? | Click this box to have labor exempt from sales tax for customers with this tax profile. |
Tax Applies? | Uncheck this field if the tax listed (“State” in this example) is not applicable to this tax profile. |
When you are finished, click OK twice to exit.
